During its weekly senate meeting, the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska will discuss two pieces of legislation regarding students’ rights, as well as hurricane relief efforts.
Senate Bill 7, titled “Advancing Wisdom Academic Rights Education,” will be introduced by ASUN’s Academic Committee and will discuss students’ academic rights. The initiative will include ASUN and the Academic Committee hosting booths outside the City and East Campus Unions on Friday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
ASUN President Joe Zach said the executive team is excited to see what the Academic Committee has been working on with the AWARE campaign.
“Ensuring students know their academic rights is imperative to helping them be as successful as they can be,” Zach said.
Senate Resolution 2, introduced by Sen. Eric Rodene, seeks to support the efforts made by a Change.org petition to aid those affected by hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
Additionally, the resolution encourages ASUN to provide links to donations for students interested in signing the petition or donating to other relief efforts.
The senate meeting will take place in Colonial Room A in the Nebraska Union at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
